Barbara Ann Corcora
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran quit the firm shortly thereafter. Corcoran, one of ABC's first Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. She has been involved in 53 deals since February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 purchase to pay for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran is the second child of 10 from a Catholic family with a low-income, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence was her mother. She was an excellent household worker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing between jobs throughout Corcoran's early years. Sometimes, her family depended on free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father, who was a drunk at times too much and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed several drinks. Corcoran struggled at school and later learned that she was dyslexic. She went to the local Catholic elementary school before beginning the high school system in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. After failing several classes during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and received a grade of D.
